Windows Phone 7 Tablet Concept

Apple [AAPL] has released the iPad which is based on their iPhone OS, will we see Microsoft [MSFT] release a tablet based on their new Windows Phone 7 OS?

Designer Umang Dokey has come up with an interesting concept for a Windows Phone 7 based tablet, as you can see from the video it features an 8 inch screen and a couple of scrolling joysticks that are designed for gaming and navigation.

If Microsoft do release a tablet based on their Windows Phone 7 OS, lets hope it looks as good as this one, it certainly does look like an interesting concept.

Amazon Launches Kindle For Mac, iPad Version Coming Soon

We have already seen the Amazon Kindle applications for the PC, Apple iPhone and a number of other devices. Amazon has just announced the launch of the Amazon Kindle Application for Apple Mac’s.

The Amazon Kindle for Macs will work with Mac OS X 1.5 and above and it lets you read your Amazon books on your Mac and also sync them with other devices like the iPhone.Amazon has also announced that it will be releasing a version of their Amazon Kindle application for the Apple iPad, although the existing iPhone App would work on the iPad an optimized one would be much better.

It will be interesting to see how Apple deals with the Amazon iPad applications, which would compete directly with Apple’s iBook’s on the iPad. You can download the Amazon Kindle for Mac application for free from Amazon.

HTC Responds To Apple’s Lawsuit

We haven’t really heard anything from HTC since Apple [AAPL] filed a lawsuit against them on the 2nd March 2010, for alleged iPhone patent infringements.

HTC has now issued a statement in response to Apple’s lawsuit, here is what HTc’s CEO, Peter Chou had to say about the lawsuit.HTC disgarees with Apple’s actions and will fully defend itself. HTC strongly advocates intellectual property protection and will continue to respect other innovators and their technologies as we have always done, but we will continue to embrace competition through our own innovation as a healthy way for consumers to get the best mobile experience possible,”

So it looks like this may end up going to court after all, although it was thought before that Apple and HTC may reach an out of court agreement.

The lawsuit, which is directed at HTC, is also a lawsuit against Google [GOOG] and their Android OS, which has multitouch features, if Apple wins this one against HTC then they will have grounds to go after Google and their Android OS.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out, if Apple wins it could end up affecting a wide range of smartphone manufacturers who may have to come up with some new design for their multitouch technology for their smartphones.

Google TV – More Details Revealed

Earlier in the month we told you about Google TV, which Google [GOOG] are currently developing. Initially it looked like it was going to be a search based service which was based on Google’s Android platform.

Google has teamed up with Sony and Intel, and the three companies will be releasing Google TV, which will basically be a TV with a built in computer that uses Intel chips and runs Google’s Android OS.As well as selling TVs with the hardware built in, it looks like there will be a number of set top boxes released that will allow the Google TV service to run on existing TVs.

It seems like Google are close to releasing developer tools for Google TV, which would allow developers to create application to run on Google TV in a similar way that they create them for the Android mobile phone platform and also the iPhone platform.

If Google manage to pull this off, and get a Google TV set in the majority of living rooms, it could seriously increase their revenue and also open up a new market for them as they are yet to enter into TV advertising.

It could also make their Android platform a lot more popular, and this could boost their Android mobile phone OS, as I am sure there would be some features that could be synced between you Google Android mobile phone and your Google TV.
